Guitar & Piano

~ Beginner and intermediate

Adults, Teenagers, Children

Music produces a kind of pleasure which human nature cannot do without.
— Confucius

Guitar & Piano lessons are individually crafted for each student based on their musical interests and background. Students will learn the songs they love while developing proper technique and essential musical skills like sight-reading, music theory, ear training and rhythm. I work with you to achieve your goals and gain a well-rounded music education, regardless of age or musical background.

These lessons can also be incorporated into your Singing & Vocal teaching, so you can learn both or add an accompanying instrument to your singing practice.

Lessons are for beginner to intermediate students, those who have learnt previously or those who want to brush up on the fundamentals and are curious to explore more.

All music genres, languages and ages welcome. Small group lessons available, e.g. duo and a trio. Private lessons held at my studio in Northcote.

Learning an instrument takes time, effort and patience.

For both students and parents, it is important that each student develop a home practice. For beginning students, I recommend practising twice a week for around 10 - 15 minutes, and then over time, you can increase the time and days. It is essential for practice to come from a place of curiosity and willingness from the student. Learning new skills and coordinations will not happen overnight; they take kindness, dedication and discipline.

At least 4 - 8 one hour lessons work best to learn the foundations of this Guitar & Piano training and practice.

Children who received music lessons showed improved language-based reasoning and the ability to plan, organise and complete tasks, as well as improved academic achievement. This [research] suggests that the cognitive skills developed during music lessons can influence children’s cognitive abilities in completely unrelated subjects, leading to overall improved academic performance.
