Last week, a student shared that when she told an acquaintance she was off to her singing lesson, they asked, “Do you sing professionally? Are you in a band?”
She replied, “No… I sing so I can become one with my voice.”
Her words touched me deeply. That week, more wisdom flowed from my students, and I wrote these down as well: “I sing so I can let the whole exist,” “Purity is a deep connection with one’s wildness,” and “Singing is like a celebration of oxygen” (thank you, Björk).
It was like they were speaking for me, as this is why I sing and teach singing.
From a young age, singing let me feel myself. I could breathe into my inner world and hear and feel its expression. Through singing, I discovered that everything is music and everyone is musical.
I love performing and being on stage, yet my deepest singing happens in everyday moments — heard mostly by me and by life around me. I am simply breathing life back into life so that it can feel and remember its own beauty.
There is no perfect voice or perfect song. There is only life honouring, remembering, and expressing itself through you. Your intention is the magic.
I’m holding the Sound Weaving workshop on the 11th & 12th of July — a space to remember together, to explore our wholeness, wildness, and purity.
If this resonates, there are 4 places left. Early-bird ends 11th June.
Come weave with us. Your voice is already singing — let it find its way home.
