Sacred Sound & Yoga

(beginner, intermediate and advanced)

Join us for a day-length immersive workshop invoking the Hindu Goddess or Gods, co-facilitated by Dina Smirnova and Jacinta Percy. This immersion is the continuation of a series of gatherings intended to explore Sacred Sound & Yoga by examining various mystical themes with a strong focus on maintaining the integrity of the teachings and spiritual practices. This 1-day workshop is an opportunity to build upon the knowledge we shared last year on a deeper level.

DINA SMIRNOVA

Dina originally came from Baku, Azerbaijan and moved to the United States shortly after she was born. She began choreographing at eleven years old, teaching at fourteen, and has been performing, creating, and teaching movement ever since.

She has been fortunate enough to study with many world-renowned teachers. She is especially drawing a big influence from her studies in New York City at Katonah Yoga, Kula Yoga Project, and Pure Yoga and in San Diego, California from Anna Spalding and Maria Anderson. Dina is passionate about taking an interdisciplinary approach to her collaborations, with a particular interest in the connection between movement and sound.

In addition to being a teacher, Dina is also a dance artist, energetic healing practitioner, and co-founder of the corporate mindfulness business, Samadhi Wellness. Some of Dina’s previous events and clients include Melbourne Music Week, Gertrude Street Projection Festival, Rainbow Serpent Festival, Burning Man Festival, Spotify, The Fader, Well + Good, and A Women’s Thing Magazine.

JACINTA PERCY

The Sound Weaver (Jacinta Percy) is a songstress, explorer, hunter, nurturer, lover, and a seeker of truth. She is a woman who is devoted to exploring the mystery of sound, resonance, breath, stillness and song.

Jacinta’s love affair with the voice, sound and music began as a wee babe, with Richard Clayderman being the only medicine that would lull her to sleep. It was an inevitable journey with a piano-playing songstress for a grandmother and a great-great-aunt, dubbed “Queen of the Irish Song”, in her family lineage.

This calling and her deep love and passion for voice, sound and music have led her over the past fifteen years to perform and work with profound teachers in Australia, Europe, Israel and India. She is crisscrossing genres from Classical to Jazz, Folk to Improvisation, Dhrupad to Carnatic.

At the young age of twenty-four, Jacinta was invited to teach and guide others. She continues to follow this path. She is teaching privately at her music studio based in Northcote and facilitating group workshops in Melbourne, Australia. For all wanting to remember their true voice, sound and nature.

Her knowledge of her voice, her open heart and listening ear, allows her to assist with a gentle grace that enables others to uncover what they are seeking. Her belief that we all need to sing, sing with courage, sing with joy, sing to mama earth. To discover our greatness and shine forth our potential into the world. This belief is what inspires her to share her love and passion too all.
