I can hardly believe the Soirée has come and gone once again!
I began hosting the Soirées in 2014 in the shared house where I lived in Brunswick East. That year, there were eight individual performers, and the singing group of seven people did an improvised song. Those were such simple yet memorable days!
Each year since, the Soirées have grown and transformed; different people have participated, with some staying and others moving on. However, the beautiful energy and warmth continue to remain and flourish each year.
I created the Soirée as a space for individuals to be witnessed by the larger community and to explore their feelings with curiosity rather than striving for perfection. It is designed to be a nurturing and generous environment where participants can connect with the energy flowing through them at any given moment, regardless of whether those feelings are comfortable or uncomfortable.
This gathering provides a safe place to recognise and honour the joy, sadness, silliness, pain, hope, and longing we all experience. I deeply respect the courage it takes to stand before a crowd and share yourselves as you are.
Over the past 20 years of working alongside and learning from others, I have realised how vital it is to witness others and be witnessed. We cannot navigate life in isolation. It is essential to be genuinely present and vulnerable to give and receive support. To be a cheer squad for others to rise, because when one person rises we all rise. When one person lets go and experiences freedom, we get to experience our freedom. Although these connections are invisible, they are very real; there is no separation between us.
My life’s journey is centred on creating unity and healing the parts of myself that feel separated. I aim to experience simple, harmonious connections with life and others, fostering inner peace and a sense of tranquillity in the world around me, regardless of external circumstances. Music and singing have been my teachers, guiding me to uncover profound truths that I can only learn through experience and curiosity. May your musical journey be rich and rewarding, anchoring the wisdom life is offering you into your being.
I thank all my teachers, alive and past: Anne Miller, Vicky Roussel, Mira Melton (dec.), Eoin McCarthy, Rebekah Luisse, Amit Carmeli, Surya, Manish Kumar, Channa Dasanyaka and Amanda Hartzler Ferris. I honour the knowledge and wisdom they have shared with me. May you continue to be a flowing river of this knowledge.
I honour my ancestors and thank them for holding me in silent ways, guiding me through this life; I know I am never alone. I am always loved and always supported.
I am taking a break over the Christmas/New Year’s period from Friday, 20th December, to Sunday, 2nd February.
I will message all my current students directly to book times for 2025.
There will be a few new offers next year; to stay up to date, please join my mailing list newsletter.
Soirée 2024
To all that came and performed at the end of the year, Soirée, it was an honour to witness and receive you! There was a lot of energy in the lead-up for all, and I want to commend you all for showing up and not running away. This is how we genuinely transform from fear into freedom. Thank you to everyone who came and listened and held space for each performer to meet the moment as it was.
Thank you to everyone who came and helped set up/pack down, bought food and allowed a space of beauty to be created. I couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you, Megan Gamble (Yoga Spot Fairfield), for generously donating your beautiful space for the Soirée. May the goodness permeate the walls, air and all who enter.
