This blog post on winter health care is a continuation of Winter Vocal Health, Part 1 and Part 2.
I know everyone is well aware that COVID has spread like wildfire in the community over the past six months, the flu is flying around, and many other illnesses are being encountered once again.
This winter is a gentle reminder to listen to your body and environment. Take rest if you need it!! If you have any symptoms near the time of your lessons, such as sore throat, cough, headaches, fatigue, or fever. It would be best to do your lesson online or reschedule! If you need to reschedule or cancel, please remember that my cancellation policy is 48 hours before your lesson.
I have been researching immune support and implementing vitamins and practices into my daily routine to support my system. The research suggests (and my personal experience) that the vitamins below are essential to take before getting any virus and definitely while you have them.
Vitamins
Vitamin D - 4,000 - 10 000 mg (if you take over 4,000 mg, you will need to take K2 as well to help with Calcium absorption)
Zinc - 20 mg - you should get your levels tested to see if you need Zinc, and only take it when Zinc is low - Zinc should not be taken directly with Magnesium; the morning is good with food
Vitamin C - plant-based high dose
Magnesium - 200 mg - Magnesium should not be taken directly with Zinc; before bed is good!
*The above vitamins are only suggestions. Please seek a trained professional’s advice for the correct dosage and if you need these supplements.
Ayurvedic Daily Practices
Abhyanga Massage - Black sesame oil (cold weather) / Coconut oil (hot weather)
Jala Neti and Nasya
Oil pulling - Black sesame oil (cold weather) / Coconut oil (hot weather)
These are practices I use daily. If you aren’t sure what these practices above are, please feel free to ask me or look them up online.
May this winter remind you that your power lies in your kindness and easiness with yourself. May fear be your teacher, and love your guide.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
