While sitting in meditation at a Vipassana retreat in India in 2014, I had a profound experience. For the first time in my life, I felt my breath breathing my body without any direction from my mind. This sensation was new to me; I realised how much I had been controlling my breath and trying to control my life.
I have been working with the voice and breath for many years. As a singing teacher, vocalist and student of yoga. I have now come to understand how important it is to be in communion with the NATURAL breath. As a vocalist, I learnt that the breath is the vehicle for sound to travel on, and in Ashtanga yoga, how the breath is the vehicle for movement. When I began to look more in-depth, I realised that my breathing pattern was a reflection of my life and how I interacted with it. It taught me that I had the power to create a harmonious or unharmonious state of being.
The Breath of Life 3-hour workshop is a gentle and experiential exploration that will take you on a journey through the anatomy of the breathing mechanism, from the lungs to the pelvic floor. You will be guided back to your NATURAL breath and breathing pattern through simple meditation techniques and gentle sounding. It is for singers, performers, public speakers and communicators who want to strengthen their relationship with their breath, life, art and craft.
I warmly invite you to join me on Saturday 2rd March, 3.00 PM - 6.00 PM.
