This year was the biggest Soirèe to date, with 24 outstanding performers willing to share! It inspired me to want to create more opportunities for us to gather in this way in 2024. There is much aliveness in the Sound Weaving Community, and I wish many students could meet each other and perform more often. Let me know if this is something you would like to happen.

Singer-songwriter Les Thomas has been focusing on singing lessons with Jacinta for almost a year now. Though he loves singing, writing, recording and performing, he’s struggled with loving and appreciating his own voice or feeling like it’s “up to scratch”. Being surrounded by highly accomplished singers in Melbourne’s live music scene naturally leads to comparisons. It’s raised a lot of questions for Les about what’s his potential, his authentic voice and how to approach songs in the best way to communicate the stories and emotions.

A scale is a pattern of notes that create a certain feeling and atmosphere. Most music, songs and melodies are built from the notes of a scale. In western music, we use the Major and Minor scales to compose and create music; in jazz music, modes are also common.
